I received weekly acupuncture treatments from Jonathan Kapsten for two months. I injured my arm severely, breaking the scaphoid bone in my wrist and badly dislocating my elbow. All of the ligaments and tendons in my elbow joint were torn and damaged. I had very little range of motion in my elbow and much swelling, bruising and pain.

Jonathan successfully treated the elbow discomfort so that in just one treatment there was visible reduction of the swelling and the bruising. After each treatment, I would marvel at the marked difference of appearance and comfort of my elbow. Most remarkable, however, was the fact that Jonathan's acupuncture treatments had such a positive impact on the range of motion in my injured joint.

The physical therapist I was also seeing could measure a great improvement during the visits where I had just received acupuncture. There would be less of an improvement measured during the weeks where acupuncture followed physical therapy. Therefore, it was obvious to both me and the PT that Jonathan's acupuncture treatments were improving the healing process.

In addition to treating the obvious injuries of the elbow and wrist, Jonathan took the time to treat my whole person. This was in stark contrast to both my orthopedic doctor and my physical therapist. Through careful questioning and close listening, and often intuitive hunches, Jonathan was able to uncover and subsequently treat other areas of my body and spirit that had been traumatized and/or damaged by my accident and injury.

For example, the orthopedic doctor and the PT often were very confused as to how best to treat my elbow in a way that was not contraindicated by my broken wrist. Jonathan, on the other hand, had no trouble seeing and treating my injured arm as a whole - even taking into account neck and shoulder issues that arose as secondary problems in compensating for the injured arm.

All in all, I am convinced that my rapid healing process is due mainly to Jonathan's treatments. Even the orthopedic doctor, who told me that the scaphoid wrist bone was "famous" for not healing properly, was quoted as saying that it was healing "beautifully" at my last x-ray.

Obviously, the main goal of any patient seeking treatment, is rapid recovery from unpleasant symptoms. I have shown that Jonathan was more than capable in this area. I would like to add, however, that not only is Jonathan skilled and effective as an acupuncturist, but he is also sensitive and understanding. He creates an atmosphere of utter safety, respect and calm. I always left my appointments feeling both calm and invigorated, due to the safe and peaceful environment Jonathan created for me.
I have had acupuncture and other alternative healing practices in the past, and I have to say that I could not recommend Jonathan more highly.
